17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention: Celebrating Global Chinese Business Leadership in Malaysia

On 11th September 2024, I had the privilege of participating in the Opening Ceremony of the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur. The convention, organised by the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), brought together Chinese entrepreneurs from around the globe under the theme “Reimagining the Future.”

This prestigious event focuses on addressing key global trends and issues, including structural shifts in politics, economics, and finance; disruptive technologies, diversity and inclusion, and climate change. These discussions are crucial in shaping the business landscape in Malaysia and beyond, offering insights and strategies to navigate the challenges of the modern world.

Like the Federal Government, the State of Selangor consistently recognises and values the immense contributions of the Chinese community in Malaysia to our socio-economic development, culture, education, and industry. For 15 consecutive years, China has remained Malaysia’s largest trading partner, with a trade volume reaching nearly USD 100 billion (RM436 billion). This relationship highlights the critical role Chinese entrepreneurs play in strengthening Malaysia’s economy and driving forward our mutual prosperity.

In the current landscape of global instability, Chinese entrepreneurs worldwide play a pivotal role in fostering regional economic cooperation, ensuring the security of critical supply chains, and promoting global socio-economic development. Their leadership and innovation are more important than ever as we work together to address the complex challenges facing the world today.

On behalf of the State Government, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the local and international Chinese entrepreneurial community. Your participation in events like the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention helps create a conducive environment for investment and innovation in Selangor, and we look forward to your continued collaboration in shaping a prosperous future.
