Selangor Journal: Two Sabda mega fishing projects set to draw RM600 mln investment — MB

SHAH ALAM — A couple of large-scale projects focused on the fishing industry under the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) are set to bring in some RM600 million in investment to Selangor, according to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

As a result, he said about 7,000 job opportunities are expected to open up within the next 10 in the scenic coastal district.

He said the projects, which are part of six under Sabda, are meant to help ensure long-term food security for the local market.

“For the first project, the country’s first tuna and deep sea fish processing and packaging factory will be built in Sungai Lang,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

“A new docking port for large vessels plying the Indian Ocean, as well as fish and land crab agricultural farms, will also be developed here.”

The other mega project, according to Amirudin, will see the construction of Malaysia’s first integrated fish landing port in Sekinchan, which will be equipped with a comprehensive tracking system that can trace the origin, processing and distribution of each fish product.

Sabda was included in the First Selangor Plan launched last July, comprising high-valued agro-developments which are expected to begin operations in 2025.

Earlier this month, Amirudin had said that the total of six projects under Sabda are set to attract investments of up to RM1.9 billion.

Other than the two aforementioned Sabda will also see the development of the Smart Selangor Agro Park in Changkat Menteri, Air Manis Business Centre, Sabak Bernam Rest and Relax Centre and an agrotourism project in Sekinchan.
