Selangor Journal: Royal siblings, MB spread Ramadan cheer at Selayang orphanage

SELAYANG, March 19 – The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, together with his sister Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari graciously attended a Ziarah Ramadan event at the Teratak Ummi Orphanage in Taman Melewar today.

Their Highnesses and Amirudin spent time with the underprivileged, orphans, and convert children at the home, engaging in activities and warmly interacting with residents and volunteers alike.

During the visit, they generously provided Hari Raya Aidilfitri gifts and aid to 54 residents, which consists of children aged five to 18, spreading kindness and compassion during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Ziarah Ramadan programme has been conducted by Worldwide Holdings Bhd in collaboration with the Raja Muda Selangor Foundation since 2022. Other strategic partners also include Selangor FC, the Selangor Youth Community, and Starvillon, to name a few.

In a brief speech today, Worldwide Holdings chief executive Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria said the programme is not just limited to visitations but all collaborative partners working together to assist in improving the orphanage.

“The Ziarah Ramadan 2024 programme is not limited to just today. Throughout Ramadan, our team will also assist in repainting the Teratak Ummi Orphanage and repairing damages to the ceiling, walls, and electrical wiring.

“Additionally, we will help install new lights and fans, generously donated by our programme sponsors, Selangor FC and Khind.

“We hope all these efforts will further enhance the joy and comfort at Teratak Ummi, making it a more appreciated welfare centre dedicated to helping orphans and the needy, for all who seek shelter, reside, and manage it,’’ she said.

Meanwhile, during the event, Selangor FC chief executive officer Johan Kamal reiterated his confidence in newly-appointed team coach Nidzam Jamil to lead the team.

Apart from his vast experience, he enjoyes a good working relationship with the players.

“That is his advantage compared to other candidates who are new faces (to the club), so we do not want to take the risk because this is an important year.

“We do not have time to experiment or figure a new rhythm’’ Johan said.

Born and raised in Kajang, Nidzam wore the Selangor jersey from 2000 to 2004.

Among the achievements of the 43-year-old former Felda United FC manager as a Selangor player include winning the FA Cup in 2001, as well as the Charity Shield and the Malaysia Cup in 2002.

He previously served as Selangor’s assistant coach to Michael Feichtenbeiner during the 2022 season before being appointed interim manager in the same year and returning as assistant coach the following season after the arrival of Tan Cheng Hoe.

Last month, Nidzam was again announced as interim coach after Tan left the team to coach a club in Thailand.
