Selangor Journal: MB meets with over 300 Selangor students at USM Penang
TASEK GELUGOR, June 30 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari met with and held a dialogue with 327 students from Selangor at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang today.
During the Sembang Sempoi segment of the Jerayawa Kita Selangor Zon Utara programme, he also answered questions and listened to students’ views on the state’s administrative direction.
The programme, organised by Persatuan Mahasiswa Anak Selangor, was attended by students from USM, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP).
Amirudin handed over laptop contributions via a free loan scheme, as well as lucky draw prizes including Selangor FC jerseys, gaming keyboards, headphones, gaming chairs, Samsung A55 smartphones, and iPads.
He also presented RM2,000 in disaster relief contributions to four UNIMAP students each, who were recently affected by a fire at their residence.
Also in attendance was USM’s student development, student affairs and alumni division Director Professor Azizah Omar and Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.
The State Education Committee counter was also open to provide information on initiatives for students and youths, including Peduli Siswa, Basic University Fee Assistance (Bayu), the Selangor State Research Grant, and the Roda Darul Ehsan incentive (Ride).
Students had the opportunity to apply for the Jom Pinjam Laptop Scheme, which offers a free six-month (one semester) loan, at the Selangor Public Library Corporation’s counter.
