The Star: ECRL project land acquisition issues to be resolved soon, says Selangor MB

SHAH ALAM: The land acquisition process for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project is ongoing and will be resolved soon, says Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Amid reports of delays in Selangor over the land acquisition for the project, Amirudin said the matter was under a special committee comprising state and ECRL representatives.

"This requires relocation of some residents, who have raised objections.

"We will talk to them to find a win-win solution," he said after launching KDEB Waste Management's new waste compactors in Shah Alam on Wednesday (Sept 20).

He added that an amicable solution had to be found as the ECRL was vital for Selangor's economy.

It was reported that the land acquisition process for the 665km-long ECRL line is 93% completed.

Railway Business Unit of China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC) general manager Zhang Wenfeng said that the 7% uncompleted part involved Section C of the rail alignment in Selangor.

He said the project's construction had achieved 50.29% progress until the middle of August 2023 and is on track to be completed by the end of 2027.

CHEC is a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC), the main contractor of the ECRL project.
