The Malaysian Reserve: Selangor International Expo Medic 2023 aims RM40m in transaction
THE Selangor International Expo Medic 2023 (SIE Medic 2023) is targeting a potential transaction value of RM40 million, an increase from last year’s RM27 million and RM1.9 million in 2021.
This is part of the overall seventh edition of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2023’s aims to achieve potential negotiated sales of at least RM1.5 billion.
SIE Medic, an annual trade exhibition and platform dedicated to the health, medical, pharmaceutical and biomedical industries, is returning this year to bring together medical industry players from around the world to facilitate business development, networking and knowledge exchange.
The event will provide an opportunity for stakeholders in the healthcare industry to gather, interact and explore the latest technologies, innovations and business trends in the medical field and serves as a vital meeting point for industry players.
Invest Selangor Berhad CEO Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris said the programme also aims to establish Selangor as the central hub for the industry in the Asean region.
Additionally, he said participants from the medical industry will have the opportunity to stay informed about the most recent advancements, product innovations and services.
Moreover, participants will have the chance to network with potential industry partners, particularly potential buyers from both domestic and international markets. “The trade exhibition provides an opportunity for industry players to gather, interact and explore new technologies, innovations and the latest business trends in the field of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and healthcare services.
“What is important is the space for business development through various programmes planned, especially programmes that bring buyers from abroad to see for themselves the capabilities of locally produced products and services,” he told The Malaysian Reserve (TMR).
Asked how the programme can help the industry players, Hasan said it serves as a platform for industry players to connect and stay updated on the latest industry trend as well as being hosted and fully backed by the Selangor government.
“The event provides exclusive access to 5,000 industry professionals who are specifically invited to participate. Moreover, it offers opportunities to expand businesses through its dedicated business-to-business (B2B) programme,” he said.
He added that the expo offers several key benefits for participants in the medical community, such as providing a platform for healthcare professionals, researchers, practitioners and industry experts to come together, and fostering networking and collaboration.
This, he said, facilitates the exchange of knowledge, and establishment of valuable connections and encourages collaborations, partnerships and the sharing of best practices which open the doors for advancement and innovation within the medical field.
“The expo incorporates various educational components, such as conferences, seminars, workshops and presentations by experts in different medical specialties. These sessions offer attendees valuable insights into the latest research, medical advancements, technological innovations and best practices.
“By participating in these educational activities, attendees can enhance their knowledge, learn about new treatment modalities and stay updated with the latest developments in their respective fields,” he said.
Hasan said the expo also serves as a platform for medical equipment manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies and healthcare service providers to showcase their latest products and services.
By doing this, healthcare professionals can explore and evaluate new technologies, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and healthcare solutions that can enhance patient care and improve medical practices.
Additionally, the expo offers opportunities for professional development, such as continuing medical education (CME) programmes and certification courses that can contribute to the ongoing learning and skill development of medical practitioners, ensuring they stay up to date with advancements and trends in their areas of expertise.
“The international expos like the Selangor International Expo Medic attract participants and exhibitors worldwide, providing a global perspective.
“This global perspective allows attendees to gain insights into healthcare practices, research and innovations from different countries and cultures and promotes cross-cultural understanding and creates opportunities for potential collaborations on a global scale,” he added.
Hasan also disclosed seven confirmed exhibitors for this year’s expo namely business consultancy Medivice Certification Sdn Bhd; HTEC Instruments Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (cooling and heating system in medical and laboratory equipment); Worldwide Medivest Sdn Bhd (manufacturer of medical devices); Dyna Source Sdn Bhd (health supplements and deoxyribonucleic acid biotechnology regenerative medicine); Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Malaysia Sdn Bhd (industrial air filters and appliances); ViP MediQ Sdn Bhd (disposable medical device and sterilisation services) and Johnson Fitness (M) Sdn Bhd (rehabilitation equipment).
