The Edge: State government allocates over RM3 mln for Jom Shopping Raya
SHAH ALAM, April 26 — The state government has allocated RM3.34 million for the distribution of Jom Shopping Raya vouchers to help ease the burden of those less well-off to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the allocation of the vouchers worth RM100 each involves 33,400 people throughout the state.
He said the initiative was implemented as the government is aware of the financial burden borne by the people following the increase in the price of goods.
“In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year, a total of RM3.34 million has been allocated to 33,400 Selangor citizens through the distribution of Jom Shopping Raya vouchers which can be used to purchase necessities items.
“It is being channelled via 56 constituencies and we hope the vouchers could ease the people’s burden as they prepare for the festive celebration,” Amirudin said in a Facebook post.
On April 8, state executive councillor for caring government V Ganabatirau said the voucher will be channelled through state representatives beginning on April 1 until the end of the month.
The Jom Shopping Raya programme was first introduced by the state government with the aim of assisting the B40 group as part of its long-term initiative to ensure the people’s welfare and wellbeing are taken care of.
The handing over of aid is channeled to the main components of the races in Selangor according to their respective festivals.
