Selangor Journal: Youngest Selangor student enters medical college, receive RM1.1 mln scholarship
SHAH ALAM, March 31 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today presented a RM1.1 million education fund to a medical student in the state who is pursuing his studies abroad.
Amirudin said the Selangor Bitara (Bitara) Scholarship will help Emir Haady Imran Zulkharnain, 18, to continue his studies at the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) in Ireland.
He said the Selangor-born who majors in medicine and surgery is the first individual to be offered the scholarship at the Bachelor’s degree level.
“The Bitara programme is rebranded from the Selangor Brain Bank which previously caters specifically for Selangor students pursuing a doctoral degree (PhD) at leading universities in the world.
“Emir Haady made history as the youngest student to be admitted to RCSI at the age of 16 and will graduate at the age of 20,” said Amirudin at the Selangor Economic Action Council meeting room here.
Later Amirudin also presented the Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor Scholarship amounting to RM450,000 to four students pursuing undergraduate studies in Jordan, Morocco and Egypt.
They are Ainul Mardhiah Mohamad Room, Nurul Aqilah Muhammad, Mohd Shayuti Ikram Shefidi and Muhammad Muzzammil Ahmad Nor who are represented by their respective families.
