Selangor Journal: Visit Selangor: State targets 10 pct increase in tourist arrivals in 2025

SHAH ALAM, Sept 14 — The introduction of the Visit Selangor Year 2025 is expected to impact the number of visitor arrivals to the state, said the state executive councillor for tourism Ng Suee Lim.

He is projecting a five to 10 per cent increase in tourist arrivals that year, thus maintaining Selangor as the country’s number one destination.

“Visit Selangor Year is one of the ways to highlight the state’s beautiful and exciting tourism products.

“The variety of tourism products will encourage the interest of more people to vacation in Selangor, and we want to further increase the number of tourists.

“Now Selangor is the state most visited by tourists, and we want to ensure it remains a popular tourist destination,” he told SelangorKini yesterday.

Based on the Department of Statistics Malaysia’s data released on June 27, Selangor recorded 22 million domestic tourist arrivals last year, a much higher rate than other states.

This leaves Selangor as the top state, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 16.9 million, Sarawak (15.5 million), Perak (14.6 million), and Pahang (13.2 million).

Prior to this, the state government via Tourism Selangor introduced the Nak Bercuti, Pusing Selangor Dulu! campaign, which offers a variety of tourism segmentation to attract visitors.

The sector includes gastronomy, cycling tourism, agro tourism, and eco tourism.
