Selangor Journal: UIS has potential to achieve excellence, produce grads who can create jobs — MB
SHAH ALAM, Sept 24 — Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS) can potentially develop into one of the best universities in the country following its upgrade to university status last year.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this can be achieved by enhancing research efforts, publishing regionally recognised journals, and establishing networks with renowned universities.
“The success of a university also depends on its ability to produce innovative and creative graduates who can create jobs, not just graduates seeking employment,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking at UIS’ third session ceremony for its 26th Convocation at the UIS Convention Centre earlier today.
According to UIS, a total of 2,511 graduates from various levels of education, including doctoral degrees, master’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and diplomas, are being celebrated at the convocation ceremony, which runs from September 23 to September 26.
“This brings the total number of UIS graduates since 1998 to 2023 to 29,876,” he said.
The convocation ceremony is the first-degree and diploma award ceremony held after the International Islamic University College Selangor (Kuis) was registered as Universiti Islam Selangor on July 20 last year.
A total of seven sessions will take place, with the third session involving 332 bachelor’s degree graduates from the Faculty of Islamic Civilization Studies and 80 graduates from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia and Computer Science.
