Selangor Journal: Shah Alam Stadium progress on track, completion in 2026 — MB
SHAH ALAM, April 29 — The Shah Alam Stadium’s reconstruction process is proceeding smoothly and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 as scheduled.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the old building will be demolished shortly, and barriers will be installed around the area to prevent intrusions from outside parties.
“The process is proceeding as planned. Now we will fulfill the requirements mandated by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) before demolition, as we do not want to disturb the surrounding neighbourhoods.
“We believe MRCB (the developer) will issue the demolition tender and decide shortly. Last week, I was informed that we could complete the stadium by the end of 2026, and it can be used thereafter,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking to the press during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house event for state government agencies, under Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah today.
In February, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI’s Special Projects Unit project manager Datuk Ruslan Abdul Aziz said the development of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) in three phases is expected to be fully completed by 2029.
The first phase, involving the demolition and reconstruction of the Shah Alam Stadium, is expected to be completed by March next year, followed by the construction of the stadium, complete with commercial space and a parking plaza, which should conclude by 2026.
The second phase will begin in January 2027 and involves a covered theatre, youth and sports wing, and recreational areas. The final phase will involve the construction of an integrated terminal and hotel, which is expected to begin in January 2028 and end in December 2029.
Meanwhile, at the event, up to 1,000 guests enlivened the open house. Taking place at the MBSA Banquet Hall, other guests include state executive councillor for sports Najwan Halimi, Malaysian Football Association president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, and Selangor FC chief executive officer Johan Kamal Hamidon.
Selangor Youth Community (SAY) chief executive officer Aiman Syafiq Nazri said the event is an annual affair by their organisation in collaboration with Selangor FC, the Selangor Football Association, and Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor.
“Today, we invited over 900 guests, including main sponsors, players, agency representatives, district offices, local authorities, and stakeholders.
“All agencies under Tengku Amir Shah’s leadership have always cooperated to ensure the success of any activity, especially those related to community welfare,” he told SelangorKini.
During the event, the Raja Muda, dressed in full traditional Malay attire complete with a sash, also took the time to mingle with the guests.
