Selangor Journal: Shah Alam flash floods under control — MB

SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 — The flash floods that affected the surrounding areas of Taman Sri Muda early this evening are currently under control, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the sudden rising water level at Sungai Klang near Taman Sri Muda and the surrounding areas is due to inclement weather and the high-tide phenomenon.

“We immediately closed the sluice gates at Taman Sri Muda but the water unfortunately rose in a few areas, namely Kota Kemuning, Section 13, Section 17, and Taman Mesra.

“The water did manage to flood the compounds of several homes, but it is not so serious. It was merely just a flash flood and waters are receding,” said Amirudin during an interview session with Astro Awani at Medan Selera Greenwood in Gombak, earlier tonight.

Earlier, the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) under the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) issued a flash flood preparedness notice for five Selangor districts, including Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Selangor and Sepang.
