Selangor Journal: Selangor’s affordable sales programme extended until year-end
HULU KELANG, June 21 — Selangor’s Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER), the state’s affordable sales initiative, has been extended until the end of the year to benefit more people.
The programme previously known as Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat, which is now organised in cooperation with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, was initially scheduled to end in September.
Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the decision was made following a mandate by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and the state government, in the best interest of the public.
He also gave assurance that PKPS has sufficient supply to meet public demand until the end of the year.
Separately, Khairil said the corporation is considering adding two new products into JER’s lineup of affordable goods, namely 1kg packeted cooking oil and sugar, which will be sold at RM2 each.
“We are looking at the suitability of adding these products to the list of basic needs, before implementing it,” he said when met at a JER programme at Surau Al-Taqwa, here, today.
JER offers basic goods at up to 30% below market value in a bid to assist low income households.
Among other things, the initiative offers a whole chicken at RM10, frozen solid meat (RM10 per pack), grade B eggs (RM10 per carton), puffer fish (RM6 per pack), 5kg cooking oil (RM25) and 5kg rice (RM10).
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had previously said via the programme, the public is expected to save approximately RM18 million in total.
Since its introduction in August last year, JER has recorded about RM37 million in sales value.
The public can check the full list of JER locations being held across the state daily, except Fridays and public holidays, at PKPS’ Facebook page or through http://linktr.ee/myPKPS.
