Selangor Journal: Selangor to launch special module assisting parents with special-needs children — Exco

SUBANG JAYA, July 17 — Selangor will soon launch a module to raise awareness and the need to care for disabled children.

State executive councillor for social welfare and women empowerment Anfaal Saari said the module was developed to assist parents in managing and monitoring the development of special-needs children.

“Under the Anak Istimewa Selangor Department, we have the Selangor Disabled Persons Action Council and have appointed two consultants from Permata Kurnia and Universiti Teknologi Mara to develop this module.

“It is currently in the first draft stage and will be presented at the end of this month before being launched,” she said.

Anfaal was speaking at the closing ceremony of the Children’s Protection Team and Children’s Welfare Team conference today.

She added that the module could be used as a reference by the Selangor Health Department to monitor the development of special children.

Meanwhile, the councillor said they will also expand children’s activity centres in mosques to strengthen the family institution.

“Activity centres in religious institutions are a new approach in collaboration with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) and are now open at Masjid As-Syarif in Meru.

“Previously, Jais was limited to certain religious matters only, but now we will expand it to mosques, providing preventive support services,” Anfaal said.
