SHAH ALAM, May 22 — The Selangor government will take Immediate measures if it receives reports on the identification of new Covid-19 variants in the state.
State executive councillor for public health Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the state administration, in collaboration with the Selangor State Health Department (JKNS), is continuously monitoring the situation following the surge of the coronavirus recorded in Singapore two weeks ago.
“So far, no new variants have been found in the state hospitals, according to JKNS. If there are any, we will cooperate and take appropriate measures.
“We urge people to always look after themselves. Wear face masks in crowded places, not only to prevent Covid-19, but also if you are unwell or coughing to prevent the spread of infections,” she told SelangorKini.
On Sunday, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the Health Ministry is closely tracking the trajectory of the recent wave of a two-fold increase in Covid-19 cases reported by Singapore.
Meanwhile, Jamaliah had called for the people to always take care of their general well-being and remain alert to the current situation and environment, including the present-day unpredictable weather patterns.
“To prevent the spread of dengue, avoid areas with many mosquitoes. The same goes for the current hot weather. Drink plenty of water and avoid sun exposure,” she added.
