Selangor Journal: Selangor Local Fruit Festival draws over 5,000 visitors
SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 — The Selangor Local Fruit Festival, held at the SACC Mall proved to be fairly lively, with more than 5,000 visitors participating since yesterday.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the supply of fruits brought by traders also ran out early, due to high demand from the public.
“The products for today have been sold out since yesterday, so they had to add new fruits to meet the demand.
“This is the first time we have organised the event at a shopping mall. This initiative can attract more visitors. Usually, such programs are held in orchards like the Selangor Fruit Valley,” he said during his visit to the event earlier today.
During the festival, Amirudin spent time visiting booths and exhibition areas, as well as presenting prizes to the winners of the fruit peeling and eating contests.
The Menteri Besar and his wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad also had the opportunity to graft a durian tree via budding.
During its two-day run, from 10am to 10pm, the Selangor Local Fruit Festival offered various exciting events, including fruit tasting and eating, jackfruit peeling, and guessing the weight of fruits.
Organised in collaboration with the Selangor Economic Planning Unit as part of the Jelajah Agro Selangor roadshow, the programme also offered 3,000 free vouchers worth RM20 to early visitors.
