Selangor Journal: Selangor a fine example of success, says PH candidate
ALOR GAJAH, Nov 15 — The Pakatan Harapan (PH) success story, especially Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) excellent track record in governing Selangor for three terms, is being communicated to the people of Melaka during the campaign period for the state’s upcoming election.
PH’s Paya Rumput candidate, Datuk Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, said it is common knowledge that the political party has been able to lead Selangor since 2008 because of its ability to govern well.
“This is among the things we can tell the voters — the achievements of PH. Even with the limitations imposed on our campaigning, where there is an opportunity, we will inform the voters about Selangor’s success under the leadership of PKR and PH.
“We appreciate the Selangor Menteri Besar visiting the areas contested by PH candidates. His presence is a political force that will give an impact to the development of the campaign,” said Shamsul Iskandar.
He said this after an afternoon tea programme with Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari who is also the PKR Selangor chairman, yesterday.
Regarding the five-cornered clash in Paya Rumput, Shamsul Iskandar said it will give voters more choices.
“We realised that a five-cornered clash is not easy because there are four other candidates who are also supported by their own parties, but it also provides an advantage as it gives voters more room to decide.
“In fact, we hope that with the limit on campaigning, social media can play a part in helping voters make a choice in choosing a stable government,” he said.
The Paya Rumput state seat sees a five-cornered fight between Shamsul Iskandar; Datuk Rais Yasin (Barisan Nasional); Muhammad Faris Izwan Mazlan (Perikatan Nasional) and two Independent candidates Mohamad Hashidi Mohd Zin and Mohd Jaini Dimon.
Meanwhile, Amirudin reminded the PH candidates to continue campaigning despite facing various constraints.
He said candidates should also be patient and use all possible avenues to meet voters until the end of the campaign period.
“Candidates must convey the message to the people. Insya Allah, I am confident that the PH victory of 2018 (General Election) can be repeated in Melaka,” he said.
The Election Commission (EC) has set voting day on November 20 and early voting on November 16.
It follows the dissolution of the state assembly on October 4 after four state assemblymen withdrew support for the Chief Minister.
Melaka, which has 28 state seats, has 495,195 registered voters.
