Selangor Journal: Second edition of Selangor’s F&B expo features new supermarket, more suppliers
KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Invest Selangor Berhad (Invest Selangor) has continued with the Selangor International Expo (SIE) (F&B) Supermarket Buyers Programme, which features the collaboration with an additional supermarket and more suppliers this year.
In a statement today, the state investment arm said that aside from ST Rosyam Mart Sdn Bhd (ST Rosyam) and Lulu Group Retail Malaysia (Lulu Hypermarket), Aeon Co (M) Bhd (Aeon) is also participating in the second edition of the programme.
It said that the programme also involves 33 suppliers with a total of 155 product SKUs (stock-keeping units).
“For the pilot edition last year, SIE (F&B) Supermarket Buyers Programme featured two prominent retail brands, ST Rosyam and Lulu Hypermarket.
“The programme had successfully onboarded all 118 SKUs in the participating supermarket which involves 24 suppliers. The promotion of the products selected by ST Rosyam was done at their outlet at Section 9, Shah Alam, and by Lulu Hypermarket at Setia City Mall,” the statement read.
Invest Selangor said the first participating supermarket, Lulu Hypermarket, identified and selected 50 product SKUs from 10 SIE (F&B) exhibitors, Aeon selected 35 product SKUs from seven exhibitors, while ST Rosyam took in 16 suppliers with a total of product SKUs of 70 exhibitors.
It said that all three retailers will introduce the products in a promotional showcase onsite at the respective retail outlets before the products are introduced on the shelves.
“The SIE (F&B) Supermarket Buyers Programme provides opportunities for the exhibitors to be selected and onboarded by the participating supermarket and hypermarkets.
“This programme is a value-added initiative introduced by Invest Selangor for all exhibitors taking part in SIE F&B exhibition. This programme aims to connect exhibitors with a vast array of buyers from participating supermarkets actively seeking new and innovative products to feature in their stores,” it said.
In the statement, Invest Selangor chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris said that the state agency aims to expand the programme with more supermarkets and also looking at international retail brands that are operating both locally and internationally.
“These collaborations are established so that Invest Selangor can assist entrepreneurs expand their market through these retail outlets,” he was quoted.
