Selangor Journal: Rumah Idaman offer ends 27-year wait for 1995 state players, officials

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The offer by the state government to the players and officials of the 1995 Selangor football team of Rumah Idaman Abadi units worth RM250,000 each, as a replacement for the land reward that was promised by the previous state administration, has come as a relief to 31 of these individuals.

Former assistant coach Datuk K Rajagopal said he is touched at the commitment shown by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari’s leadership in helping to conclude his 27-year wait for winning the Malaysia Cup in 1995.

“I wish to thank the state government for their concerns over our situation. Indeed, we have waited many years and the promise made by the then-Menteri Besar (in 1995) has finally been fulfilled.

“He (Amirudin) has been committed to resolving this issue and it has certainly uplifted all our spirits,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

The 66-year-old former Harimau Malaya coach said he was informed the house is located in Kajang 2, under the Semenyih subdistrict. However, Rajagopal has yet to decide whether he would move in or not.

“I have not decided whether to live there or not because I am currently residing in Petaling Jaya. But what matters is, the promise has been fulfilled,” he said.

On August 30, Amirudin handed over the house key to the players and their representatives as a symbolic gesture, during the state-level National Day celebrations at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam.
