Selangor Journal: Over 3,000 Paya Jaras students receive back-to-school aid
SUNGAI BULOH, March 12 — Approximately 3,500 students from low-income families in the Paya Jaras state constituency were provided with RM100 in back-to-school aid.
State assemblyman Mohd Khairuddin Othman said of the figure, 800 vouchers were distributed via the first phase of the assistance today.
“The second phase will see the vouchers distributed in Taman Saujana Utama since the area is quite far from Sungai Buloh.
“For the third phase, the vouchers will be distributed according to the locality,” he said in a press conference during the Back To School — Selangor Prihatin programme, earlier today.
Mohd Khairuddin said RM200,000 has been allocated to ensure the programme is a success in Paya Jaras.
The back-to-school aid is provided to two children per family, which he added was a rule instituted to ensure that more Selangor citizens will be able to benefit.
“We received very encouraging responses from the residents and many applied, but the priority was given to the B40 groups and those affected by the recent flash floods.
“Similarly, households earning over RM4,000 monthly but with many children will also be given consideration for the back-to-school aid,” he said.
