Selangor Journal: Hijrah helps over 60,000 entrepreneurs, with revolving fund over RM632 mln
KLANG, Oct 25 — Some 62,000 entrepreneurs in the state have received assistance from Yayasan Hijrah Selangor’s microcredit financing since 2015, involving a revolving fund worth over RM632 million.
State executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail said the amount is indicative of the financing programme which assists small entrepreneurs in Selangor to expand their businesses.
“It first began with only RM70 million, but presently revolving fund has reached in excess of RM632 million, which proves the programme helps small entrepreneurs run and grow their businesses.
“With up to RM100,000 in microcredit financing, the state government initiative aids small entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and increase their capital,” she said after the launch of the GM Klang Business Community app, earlier today.
Aimed at business matching, the app connects entrepreneurs or individuals interested in starting their own businesses, with over 700 wholesalers in GM Klang for identifying wholesalers and products which suit their needs.
Rodziah added the app can be improved with additional various facilities, like a Hijrah Selangor information centre to expose users to the platform, as a way for them to add capital.
“It is possible, for example, of Selangor entrepreneurs who are interested yet lack the necessary capital, so with the cooperation between GM Klang and Hijrah Selangor, the relevant information can be found in the GM Klang Business Community app,” she said.
Hijrah Selangor offers eight types of loan schemes, aimed at boosting entrepreneurs’ income. They include I-Bisnes, Zero to Hero, Go Digital, Niaga Darul Ehsan (NaDI), i-Lestari, i-Agro, i-Bermusim, and the Selangor Indian Entrepreneur Development (Sitham) programme
