Selangor Journal: Greater Klang Valley will boost Selangor’s economy, smoother administration — Exco
KLANG, Feb 18 — The state government’s move to establish the Greater Klang Valley involves four local authorities to further boost its economy and create a smoother administration.
State executive councillor for local government Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said the plan involving Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, and Klang provides digital simulations, including traffic management, disaster response, processes, and sustainable development site designs.
He said Klang was once Selangor’s administrative centre from 1875 to 1903 and has since undergone rapid urbanisation and development over the decades.
“We can see positive changes in Klang’s development landscape through several development eras starting from traditional to modern, globalisation, and now pioneering into digitisation.
“With the development today, the state government is establishing the Greater Klang Valley corridor to give an economic boost to Selangor.
“Via its establishment, the Greater Klang Valley will become the first administration locality that is elderly-friendly, disabled-friendly, child-friendly, and the first carbon-neutral city in Malaysia,” Ng said.
He was speaking at the Royal Klang City Carnival’s officiation ceremony at Kompleks Sukan Pandamaran yesterday evening. The carnival is organised in conjunction with Klang being declared as the Royal Klang City Council (MBDK).
Meanwhile, Klang Mayor Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan said MBDK has formulated urban development plans involving the redevelopment of cities with major urban rejuvenation.
“The redevelopment plans involve Klang and Port Klang, the growth centres of Meru and Kapar, as well as planned new developments.
“With the formulated plans and cooperation network of all parties regardless of race, religion, and social background, it can be realised,” she said.
On February 5, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj formally officiated MBDK’s declaration ceremony.
His Royal Highness also announced the appointment of Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan as MBDK’s mayor, effective since November 23 last year.
