Selangor Journal: Five schools get RM178,000 aid from state govt to upgrade facilities

SHAH ALAM, Dec 13 — The state government today distributed RM178,000 in financial aid to five schools as part of the Selangor School Assistance Programme, to ensure a conducive learning environment for students.
Deputy State Secretary (Development) Dato’ Johary Anuar said RM50,000 is given to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Labohan Dagang, RM48,000 for SK 2 Petaling Jaya, RM40,000 for SK Desa Pinggiran Putra and RM20,000 each to SK Seksyen 27(2) and Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Bedena.
In all, he said the aid distributed under the programme, which has benefited a total of 993 schools this year, can be utilised to repair and upgrade facilities like halls, toilets, roofs and ceilings.
“The total allocation this year (for the programme) is RM26.5 million. This shows the state government’s concern towards the needs of students and schools.
“It is hoped that this aid will benefit all those involved and that it continues into the future,” he said after officiating the aid distribution ceremony at the State Administrative Building, here, today.
SK 2 Petaling Jaya principal Rohanim Shahari said the financial assistance will be utilised to upgrade electrical wirings in the 69-year-old school.
He also expressed his gratitude to the state administration for approving the aid request within just one month of application.
Meanwhile, SK Labohan Dagang headmaster Mhd Sazali Jailani said the allocation will be used to build a new hall for the benefit of its 750 students.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had said that the RM26.5 million aid under the Selangor School Assistance Programme distributed to education institutions in Selangor this year is the highest in the 14 years since its introduction.
The initiative, which was rolled out in 2009, is meant to offer a more comfortable learning environment for students and teachers.
