NST: Selangor F&B operators complying with masking directive

KUALA LUMPUR: Food and beverage operators in Selangor are complying with the state government's orders to mask up at all times.

Checks in Subang Jaya today showed that the vast majority of employees at food outlets were wearing masks.

This follows the Selangor government's directive that the wearing of face masks for food and beverage outlet employees would be mandatory from Jan 1 and that this would be enforced throughout the state.

Apart from hygiene reasons especially in terms of food preparation, it is also a measure to protect both food outlet employees and their customers.

This is especially so considering there are still thousands of people being infected with Covid-19 each day.

Earlier, the Selayang Municipal Council, in a Facebook posting, warned that it would issue compound fines to food outlet operators who failed to comply with the directive.

"All food handlers in Selangor are required to wear masks as part of the measures to ensure cleanliness and hygiene," it said.
