NST: MBI Selangor's Merdeka programme aims to foster greater unity [NSTTV]

SHAH ALAM: The Merdeka Unity Convoy organised by Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor) aims to spread the spirit of patriotism all through this month.

MBI Selangor chief executive officer Norita Muhd Sidek said at the launch of the programme here today, "During this patriotic month, let us wave our Jalur Gemilang high as a symbol of gratitude living in a prosperous country."

Following the launch, a convoy of cars decorated with national flags visited three schools in Shah Alam to hand over contributions totalling RM50,000 as part of the programme.

The schools are Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Anggerik Seksyen 6 (RM10,000), Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Seksyen 2 (RM30,000) and Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Tengku Ampuan Jemaah (RM10,000)

Also present at the event were Selangor Information Department director Normaizatulakmal Tujad and MBI Selangor employees.

"I believe that celebrating Merdeka Month with the different races will further inculcate the patriotic spirit in us," said MBI employee Nur Najwa Ayuni, 21.

Another MBI employee, Nur Umairah A'qilah, 21, said, "We have to mix with everyone regardless of race and religion, only then can we understand and acknowledge our differences."
