NST: 'Clean' Muhyiddin wanted me to get PH Selangor reps to defect - Amirudin
KULIM: Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has claimed that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had, prior to the Sheraton Move, asked him to get Selangor Pakatan Harapan assemblymen to leave the coalition.
He said he had met Muhyiddin to question him about the Sheraton Move which would eventually lead to the collapse of the PH government in 2020.
"This is the man who called himself clean, incorruptible," he said at a ceramah here for Padang Serai PH candidate Dr Mohamad Sofee Razak.
Amirudin said Muhyiddin and Perikatan Nasional campaigned using the "clean, stable government" tagline.
Yet, he claimed, Muhyddin had asked him to get PH assemblymen to leave the coalition and support the Sheraton Move, which saw Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leave PH and join forces with several PKR members of parliament, Pas and BN to topple the government of the time.
Amirudin, who is also PKR vice-president, claimed Muhyiddin had told him to offer the Selangor assemblymen monthly payments of RM10,000 and positions in government-linked companies to defect.
"My mother didn't bring me into this world to be a traitor, so I didn't go along with (Muhyiddin's plan)," he said, adding that Padang Serai voters should reject PN candidate Datuk Azman Nasruddin.
Azman was previously with PKR before joining Bersatu.
Amirudin, however, said he would not be surprised if Muhyiddin denied the claims, as the meeting between the two was a private one, with no witnesses.
