Laman Lestari Centralised Labour Quarters
One of the major lessons we learned during the COVID-19 pandemic was the importance of sufficient space in homes and ventilation to better deal with endemics and possible pandemics.
Drawing from that experience, I launched the Laman Lestari Centralised Labour Quarters this morning which will provide a comfortable and dignified living space for over 5,700 workers upon completion.
We aim to strike the golden balance between economic advancement and improving the quality of lives through uplifting dignity, something renowned economist Gene Sperling pointed out in his book, 'Economic Dignity'.
This PKNS-led development on a 4.35-acre piece of land at Bandar Sultan Suleiman will provide further confidence to factory operators and potential investors that the Selangor government is always on its heels to provide workable solutions to new challenges faced by the modern economy.
Workers, both local and foreign, form the backbone of Selangor's prosperous economy, and this administration is committed to improving the quality of life which must begin at the local level.
This CLQ development is the first of its kind spearheaded by the Selangor State Government as outlined in the 2022 State Budget, and up to 10 projects such as this will be developed through PKNS, especially in locations close to business parks to provide better and closer mobility between the home and workplace for workers.
