The Star: Puchong landslide: MBSJ to use 375 sheet piles to prevent further erosion at site

PUCHONG: The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will use approximately 375 iron-cored sheet piles, each about 6m long, to prevent further soil erosion in the area affected by the landslide on Saturday (Dec 16), says Asst Comm AA Anbalagan.

“The mitigation process is expected to take about 2 weeks to complete, and residents are advised not to gather or disrupt the repair work.

“The police will remain present to ensure the safety of the area and its residents.

“If affected residents require essential items, they are advised to contact the police for assistance," the Serdang OCPD said on Sunday (Dec 17).

He added that personnel from the Mineral and Geoscience Department were on site to investigate and would periodically provide updates on their findings.

“The electricity supply has also been cut off by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to prevent electrical hazards.” he said.

Meanwhile, MBSJ said, in a statement on its official Facebook page, that a temporary relief shelter had been set up at the Multi-purpose Hall at Laman Puteri 3 since Saturday to house the eight families forced to evacuate due to the landslide.

It added that MBSJ mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Yatim had ordered immediate and long-term measures to be taken to address the landslide.
