Selangor Journal : Merdeka belongs to everyone, Malaysians of all races fought Covid-19 together – MB
SHAH ALAM, Sept 1 — The 63rd celebration of the nation’s independence day belongs to all as the communities had come together to battle against Covid-19, says Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Amirudin said this time around, the frontliners are being appreciated, including hospital personnel, security forces, volunteers as well as food deliverers, who have fulfilled the daily needs of the people during the movement restriction period.
“The Merdeka celebration this year belongs to us all as everyone is involved, including those who work in the field as well as those behind the scenes. Therefore, let’s celebrate this year’s spirit of Merdeka together,” he said through a 63rd Independence Day video especially dedicated to the people of Selangor.
Amirudin said that Malaysians in the past from early on have gone through various challenges such as riots and economic crisis. This time, the country is facing the ‘war’ against the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to him, this is a new experience that constitutes an important lesson in proving how the spirit of mutual consensus and racial unity can guarantee the progress of the nation.
“In facing a challenge that we never expected or imagined would have happened, we have been able to pull through it because all parties have worked hard with one another, showing support and appreciation to ensure that we would succeed in the fight against Covid-19.
“All these challenges and obstacles which we went through together will preserve this mutual respect and unity among us all,” said Amirudin.
