NST: Selangor to add more Ramadan bazaars to avoid overcrowding

KLANG: Selangor plans to add more Ramadan bazaar locations throughout the state this year to avoid overcrowding.
Local Government Standing Committee Chairman Ng Sze Han said discussions have been held with all local authorities (PBT) to ensure suitable sites for such bazaar's in each PBT administrative area.
"If possible we want to add more locations and we want to reduce the density (traders & visitors) at each location.
"So, the state government needs help from local authorities as they know the suitability of the location in their administrative area.
"If we can find an area where we can control the entry and exit, it is safer," he said after attending the Klang Prosperous Towards A Sustainable Development 2020/2021 Appreciation Ceremony at Dewan Hamzah, Klang Municipal Council (MPK), here today
Also present was the President of MPK Noraini Roslan.
He said the total number of Ramadan bazaars throughout Selangor had yet to be decided as the application process in several local authorities was still ongoing.
"The number (of bazaars) is not known yet, we may know this weekend. I met some Ramadan bazaar traders, the response from them was very good as in previous years but importantly, we must ensure the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are adhered to and we can control it well, that's a big challenge.
"Local authorities will also place enforcement personnel in every Ramadan bazaar. If there is not enough enforcement personnel, we may need the assistance of RELA to help out.
