NST: 14 new Covid-19 clusters emerge in 7 states; active clusters now at 401
KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry today identified 14 new Covid-19 clusters in seven states, nine of which are linked to workplaces, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said three are high-risk group clusters, while two are community clusters.
The workplace clusters are the Jalan Lagoon construction site cluster; Puchong Industry cluster in Selangor; Persiaran Raya cluster and Lapangan Siber cluster in Perak; Kampung Parit mosque cluster in Johor; Jalan Puchong construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur; Ladang Sungai Pin cluster in Sabah; Bintang Daily cluster in Sarawak; and Nilam Tiga cluster in Negri Sembilan.
The three high-risk group clusters involve two in Kuala Lumpur, namely the Jalan Empat and Jalan Tan clusters, as well as the Sungai Purun cluster in Selangor.
Both community clusters were reported in Sabah, namely the Kampung Samin cluster and Padas Damit cluster.
Dr Noor Hisham said Malaysia now has 401 active clusters.
Five clusters, namely the Tembok cluster, GK Tawau cluster, Sentosa Residential cluster, Menara Wang cluster and Maringkan cluster, ended today.
He added that 73 clusters recorded new cases today, with the Jalan Puchong construction site cluster logging the highest number of cases at 322, followed by the Jalan Chulan construction site cluster (85) and Tembok Taiping cluster (81).
