Malaysia Now: New infections top 4,000 as death toll up by 8

Another 4,098 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,608,768.

There were 2,071 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 4,534,019.

There are now 38,913 active cases, of which 37,495 or 96.4% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 26 (0.1%) are at quarantine centres while 1,339 (3.4%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 53 are in ICU with 35 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 61.7%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 12.9%.

Another eight deaths were reported, including two who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 35,836.
