Malay Mail: Judge Pakatan on 15 years in Selangor, not just 22 months in Putrajaya, says DAP leader
KOTA KINABALU, Nov 7 — Sceptics of Pakatan Harapan’s ability to govern can evaluate its performance in administrating Selangor, Malaysia’s richest and most industrialised state, since 2008, said a DAP leader.
Insisting that the coalition’s 22 months in federal power was not an accurate measure of its capabilities, Banting assemblyman Lau Weng San said PH (and its predecessor, Pakatan Rakyat) has governed Selangor for more than a decade.

“It is fact that we have run Selangor successfully in the last 14 years and have implemented dozens of programmes that look after the welfare of everyone,” he said, touting the state’s welfare and insurance schemes, which he said could be expanded nationwide if PH regained federal power.
“Selangor has the highest gross domestic product (GDP) rate among the states, is the fastest growing and most economically advanced state. It is proof of what a clean government can do,” he said.
He also said that Selangor was a good example to take because of its racial demographic that was similar to Malaysia’s
“If we can govern Selangor that well, I’m sure we will be even more successful in Sabah, which has a lot of resources,” said Lau.
PH and its allies won the 14th general election but its administration collapsed less than two years later when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned unexpectedly as the prime minister.
Today, policy bureau chief Chan Foong Hin also said the PH of today has evolved since winning the general election as it no longer included Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, and was different from PR that had once included PAS.
“Now we have Upko, and they have the same multiracial direction. We have been able to share the power balance well,” he said.
